SHAW MFG. CO.
Bikes to Tractors

I have no idea who those girls are.  Moreover, the picture is copyrighted, so as far as I know it shouldn't even be here.

The dilemma is that there is no way of finding out who they are, or getting permission to place the picture in this website without first publishing it.  Nonetheless, since what they are sitting on is a  genuine Shaw Speedster I have no choice other than to throw caution to the wind and place it here anyway.  The picture was taken in 1927 by the Fox Company in San Antonio, Texas and copyrighted by Carl D. Newton.  If anyone cares to find out who the girls are, or try and locate Mr. Newton for permission, please do.  In the meanwhile the picture stays.

Please note that the seats appear to be staggered or perhaps adjustable.  Also, if you zoom in, it appears that the girls may be harnessed or strapped into the seats.

This Shaw Speedster belonged to Dick Griffith, who was building his from scratch.  In 2015 this Speedster was purchased by Steve Gordon of Wichita, KS.  Dick passed away in 2003.  (JH update Jan 2016)
